Webinar on TULIP: The Urban Learning Internship Program

Smart City Project authorities provided the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students with clear ideas on how to create synergies between advancing functional skills and harnessing energy and ideas to create solutions for the future of cities in a joint Webinar of the Aligarh Smart City Limited and the Training and Placement Office-General, AMU on ‘TULIP: The Urban Learning Internship Program’.
Explaining how the TULIP program will fulfil the twin goals of providing hands-on learning experience to students and benefiting the States and Smart Cities with infusion of fresh energy and ideas, Gaurang Rathi (Municipal Commissioner, Aligarh Smart City Limited) pointed out that TULIP program will have courses prescribed by urban local bodies and smart cities as per their requirements.
“Both AICTE affiliated and non-AICTE college graduates can apply for these courses and students with post-graduate and graduate degrees and diploma holders will be hired as interns for the implementation of Smart City Projects”, he said.
In a special interactive session, Gaurav Dayal (Deputy Commissioner, Aligarh) discussed the importance of Nation Service and called upon students to serve the Country to the best of their capabilities.
Prof Asad Ullah Khan (Coordinator, IQAC, AMU) spoke on the importance of outreach programs, joint ventures, and internships.
He shared his experience with students and urged them to participate in National level infrastructural and technological development projects in Western countries.
Omair Iftikhar (Public Relations Officer, Aligarh Smart City Limited) said: “The TULIP interns would get exposure in a large number of areas including urban planning, urban design, different branches of engineering, information and technology, mobility, finance, social sector issues and environmental issues”.
Dr Jahangir Alam (Assistant Training and Placement Officer-General) delivered the welcome address and University Women's Polytechnic faculty member, Amrah Maryam conducted the program.
Saad Hameed (Training and Placement Officer-General) extended the vote of thanks.
