AMU English department gets new Chairman
Prof Mohammad Asim Siddiqui has been appointed as the Chairman, Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for a period of two years, four months and 24 days as he has already served on the position for over seven months in 2018.
He was appointed after Prof Nikhat Taj expressed inability to accept the position on health grounds.
Prof Siddiqui has been teaching at AMU for over 30 years.
As a Fulbright Fellow at the New York University in 2007; Prof Siddiqui interacted with the students, faculty and administrators in different USA based educational and cultural institutions in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico and Washington D.C.
He is on the editorial board of many literary and cultural journals and has published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
Prof Siddiqui regularly contributes columns on arts and culture to The Hindu, NDTV.com, Rediff.com, Hindustan Times, The Statesman, The Indian Express and The Pioneer. He has delivered lectures at the NALSAR University, Hyderabad; University of Kashmir, Srinagar; Lucknow University; CCU Meerut and Open University Kota.
