AMU Life Sciences faculty gets top position in Times Higher Education rankings 2022

Aligarh, November 24: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been jointly named as the top Indian University in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) 2022 for studying Life Sciences and ranked third in the field among all Indian educational institutions.

The results were recently released by the London based global higher education agency and compiler of the one of the world's most-consulted university rankings portfolio.

Upping the ante in other areas of study, AMU has been ranked second among all Indian institutions and universities in Social Sciences; In Engineering sciences, AMU is placed third among Indian universities and seventh in all education institutions of the Country; AMU also holds the third rank for Physical Sciences education in Indian universities and eighth among all institutions of the Country and in the Clinical and Health field, AMU is on the sixth spot among Indian universities and eighth in institutions. AMU falls in the #801-1000 category in the overall world rank.

“Our place among the world’s leading universities and educational institutions reflects the high-quality teaching and relevant and focused research even as the students, faculty and staff continue to navigate the pandemic”, said AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor while expressing satisfaction over the academic performance in the university.

He added: “AMU is a globally competitive university, constantly improving its international and national rankings. It is a strong institute with capable faculty fostering educational ideas and thoughts inside students that are necessary in changing times. Our contribution to national development is also increasing in leaps and bounds”.

“AMU has bagged top positions in various subjects and an overall ranking based on parameters of teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook. This year’s ranking analysed more than 108 million citations across over 14.4 million research publications and included survey responses from almost 22,000 scholars globally. Over 430,000 data points were collected from more than 2,100 institutions that submitted data. Overall, 1,662 universities are ranked in THE WUR 2022”, said Prof M Salim Beg (Chairman, Committee for Ranking of the University).
