AMU faculty delivers lecture on interdisciplinary research

In the key note address on ‘Interdisciplinary Research Approach in Unani Medicine’ during the International Annual Research Symposium 2021 of the Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka; Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) faculty member, Prof Mohd Anwar (Department of Ilaj Bit Tadbeer, Faculty of Unani Medicine) discussed how interdisciplinary research develops concepts to create scientific and logical basis for therapeutic decisions.
He emphasised that the interdisciplinary research in the field will bring advance fundamental understanding by integrating information, data, techniques, tools, perspectives, concepts, and theories from two or more disciplines or bodies of specialised knowledge.
“There is a need for a paradigm shift in the research methodology for evaluating Unani medicine and interdisciplinary research should be incorporated in the ongoing research”, said Prof Anwar.
He asserted: “Unani medicine is one of the oldest systems of medicine and its existence is an evidence of validity of its principles. More interdisciplinary research in the field will bring in the required progress and the continuous quest for knowledge”.
