Covid positive PG student appears for exam in isolation

At a time when the COVID pandemic has completely derailed the examination system across the country, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) achieved an incredible feat as it arranged examination of an MD Pathology student, who tested COVID positive a day before the off-line examination began.

According to the Controller of Examination, Mr. Mujibullah Zuberi, the university made an innovative arrangement by involving both online and offline methods of examination. The girl student was put in the isolation ward and the health workers managed the ward with PPE kits delivered copy and paper to her.

Through the camera, online invigilation for three hours was conducted, said Mr. Zuberi.

"After the examination, the student was provided mobile and the Controller Office created a special portal and she was asked to upload her answer-sheet page-wise, which she did. The student's examination copy is kept in the ward to be collected later," he added.

AMU conducted exams for MD and MS courses by following social distancing guidelines. In all 190 students appeared for the examination. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor lauded the effort.
